4th Annual Memorial “Run for Mary” raises €10,200
GALWAY (December 18, 2017)- The 4th memorial ‘Run for Mary’ took place in Peterswell, County Galway on November 4th, 2018. The annual event raised €10,200 for Galway Hospice and Hand in Hand Children’s Cancer Charity. Proceeds raised through the event were divided equally between both charities.
Galway Hospice provides hospice/palliative care services to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families/carers throughout Galway city and county. Hand in Hand Children’s Cancer charity provides practical support to families affected by a child with cancer. They provide essential support services including childcare, household cleaning, laundry and childcare. Both charities rely heavily on voluntary donations to ensure the availability of services.
It was a beautiful morning and over 400 people participated in the Run for Mary 5km Run, Walk and Jog which created a wonderful atmosphere and great family day. The total amount raised to date from the annual ‘Run for Mary’ event is €46,200 which is a fantastic achievement thanks to everyone’s support each year.
“We cannot thank the organisers and participants of this event enough,” said Laura Bromley, Fundraising Officer of Hand in Hand. “It is generosity such as this which makes our work possible.”
The presentation of the cheques took place recently in the Lady Gregory Hotel, Gort. Most heartfelt thanks is extended to everyone who has supported this wonderful event in memory of our dearest friend Mary and her baby Zach.
