It’s February, which means spring has officially begun! The daffodils are starting to pop their heads up and we’re starting to see a little bit of a stretch in the evenings. We’re very grateful for this extra ray of sunshine as it means we get to spend it in the best way, outdoors! There’s so much to do in the garden in February – our feathered friends are depending on us for feeding, our lawns need looking after and we begin to plant our crops for the year ahead. It really is a month for renewal and regrowth!

Getting out into the garden and getting your hands dirty has many benefits. Once you begin sowing, growing and harvesting your own fruits, herbs and vegetables you will begin to see bountiful improvements in numerous areas of your life. The age old question…when does spring really begin? If you’re a meteorologist, spring begins on 1st March. If you’re an astronomer, spring begins on the 20th March. But, for us gardeners, spring begins on the 1st February.

There can be quite a lot to do in February. You have 28 days to look after your wild birds, sow and grow your plants, fruit and vegetables and tackle your garden moss.

But it is an exciting month in the garden, read our top tips for February in the garden here.
