Proposed road works in Claregalway

Earlier this year Galway County Council were provided with money for two road projects in Claregalway. Since then I have been asked when these works are to start.

The first was €87,000 towards road safety improvement works at Lachtgeorge junction. I have now been informed by the Director for Roads that the design for this junction is currently being finalised and will be ready within the next week and will then proceed to tender.

With regard to the €290,000 that was provided for design work in the village itself I have been informed that the design work is ongoing and will not be completed until the Autumn.

Hedge cutting

The council are active throughout the whole Municipal District dealing with hedge cutting and will do as much as they can with the very limited finances they have. If you have and particularly bad area that needs attention let me know so that I can bring it to the notice of the supervisor. Presently the hedge cutting machine is operating in the Annaghdown area and I have been given an undertaking that it will be in the Cregboy area by the last week of August or first week in September.

Electrical Good Collection

Once again I have arranger with the environment section of the council for the collection free of charge of old electrical goods. The date this year is October 1st. and the collection location will be the car park of the Claregalway Community Centre. We are once again grateful to the Management of the Community Centre for the use of the car park on that date. Old electric goods only can be left at the car park of the community centre between 4–7pm 1st of October 2015.
