The Claregalway Hotel was the venue for an extremely enjoyable evening for more than 200 local people on Tuesday 28th February.

Canon Mullin was the host for the event. It was his “Thank You” to all the parishioners who give voluntarily of their time, to help out in the running of Church affairs on an ongoing basis. Many people who gave of their services in the recent past were also guests on the night.

There was a big turn out for mass, which was celebrated in the Church at 7.30 p.m. Canon Noel took this opportunity to thank sincerely – once more, all and sundry for their generous support. Canon Noel’s genuine appreciation is frequently expressed and always warmly received.

Regrouping took place in the lounge of the hotel. The many unsuspecting clients, who were already enjoying a quiet drink, must have been stunned by the arrival “en masse” of hundreds of local people in all their finery. Everyone knew everyone and there was a wonderful buzz and sense of camaraderie about the place.

The meal that followed was second to none. The finest of food was served with first class efficiency and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. When everyone was replete, there was a consensus of opinion that management and staff of the restaurant deserved full marks for a job very well done.

A very pleasant night ended with the only formalities being Grace before and after meals. Before all had departed, Tom Murphy from Cloon accepted the microphone and eloquently thanked Canon Mullin on behalf of all present.

May we of the Nuacht Chlair Team add our thanks and perhaps do so once more on behalf of everyone.
