Mens News:
Our Senior men lost out on a scoreline of 1:11 to 0:16 against Milltown on Sunday in the Quarter
Finals of the Bon Secours Senior championship. Thanks to our lads and management for a great year,
such hard work to just come up short.
An historic semi-final isn’t for us this year but we will learn from the year and will come back
stronger.
Best wishes to Milltown as they progress to the semis.
Despite a spirited performance on Friday evening our Juniors lost out to Tuam Stars in the Junior
Semi-Final. The full-time score was 1:08 to 1:10. Thanks to the lads and management team for all
the hard work put in this year.
The only remaining adult football this year is in the Under 19 championship where we await several
fixtures to be played before knowing who we will face next.

Ladies News:
Our Senior ladies face Kilkerrin/Clonberne in the County Final this coming Sunday at 15:30 in Tuam
Stadium.
Please don the green and gold this Sunday to support our ladies in the county final. All support
greatly appreciated.
Our Junior A Ladies are due out on Saturday the 14 th of October. Time and venue TBC.

Minor Ladies:
Our Minor A Ladies lost out to Salthill on Sunday in the Minor A Cup.
Our Minor D Ladies lost out to Menlough in the D Semi-Final
Minor Boys:
Our Minor boys take on Tuam Stars in the county final on Saturday. This will be our third time
facing them this year. Time and venue TBC. Please get out and support the lads.
Supervalu Schools Competition – Thursday October 12th:
On the evening of Thursday, October 12th, we are gearing up for the exciting conclusion of the
Claregalway GAA National Schools competition.
For the second consecutive year, we are extremely grateful for the continued support of Hughes
Supervalu and Flynns Supervalu. We’d also like to extend our appreciation to Treat Café for
generously providing tea and coffee during the event.
Last year, the final evening drew a massive crowd of parents, relations and friends to witness the
talents of the players representing each of the seven participating schools: Claregalway National
School, Claregalway Educate Together, Carnmore National School, Lackagh National School,
Bawnmore National School, Cregmore National School, and Coolarne National School.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the boys’ and girls’ teams from these schools for their
enthusiastic participation. We eagerly anticipate an outstanding evening of football on the 12 th .
Throw in times TBC but will be Circa 17:15 for the boys games and 18:15 for the girls.

Tom Wall – RIP
It is with great sadness that the Claregalway GAA Club and the Community of Claregalway heard of
the death of Tom Wall in the past week.
Tom was born in Cahergowan, Claregalway in 1935 and grew up in a hurling family. He was known
as a very skillful and speedy hurler and was frequently the last man to leave Hessions Field, which
was the club’s pitch in that era.
Tom was the last surviving member of the Claregalway Hurling Team which won the County Junior
Hurling title in 1952, defeating Eyrecourt in the final.
Tom works all his career in the Post office in Galway City, he is also fondly remembered for the
great service he provided to the Credit Union in Mervue over the years. When Tom married, he
moved to Renmore, there he became involved in the local GAA and was a leading figure in early
development of the club. Tom was also a prominent referee at both club and school levels in Galway
city and county. His passion for the GAA continued up to his final days with a love for following the
games and results of all of the club matches.
Tom is predeceased by his Late Wife Maureen, brother Martin, sisters Sarah and Mary, son-in-law
Liam Glynn and granddaughter Anna and will be sadly missed by his daughters Anne and Miriam,
sons Michael and Joseph, daughter-in-law Maura Daly, son-in-law Seán Dunleavy, grandchildren
Cáit, Moya, Ailbhe, Isobel, Emily, Katelyn, Grace, Daisey, Harry and Louis, sister Margaret, brother
Harry, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
