The dreams and the hopes that Turloughmore could go one step better this year in the Galway Senior Hurling Championship and reach the county final for the first time since 1990, were dashed by a committed performance by Beagh that Turloughmore simply were unable to answer on Saturday evening. Beagh had never reached a semi-final in the senior championship and many Turloughmore supporters were taking this game far too lightly and after reaching the semi-finals last year, were hoping to at least reach the same stage with relative ease.
While they were given no favours from the referee, the Turloughmore side simply didn’t perform until the closing ten minutes of the game and they had too much leeway to make up at that stage, having trailed by six points after 50 minutes. The team has given much enjoyment and while there is much hope for the future, supporters may have to wait until a few more of the talented young minors of the All Ireland Féile team come on board at senior level, and that could take a few years.
