Claregalway Intermediates booked a place in the Intermediate Club All-Ireland Final against Thomas Davis of Dublin with a convincing win over Boherbue of Cork in Tuam Stadium on Sunday. The Cork ladies started the better and should have been a goal up inside the first minute but Hannah Coen produced a fine save in the Claregalway goal to keep the sides level.
Boherbue raced into a four point to one lead before Claregalway settled and points from Ciara Newell, Deirdre Brennan, Michelle Dunleavy and Ciara Burke gave them the lead that they never lost. Charlotte Cooney scored Claregalway’s first goal in the 21st minute. Further points from Ciara Burke and Michelle Dunleavy and a goal from Deirdre Brennan saw Claregalway close the half with a 2–7 to 0–6 lead.
Ciara Burke opened the 2nd half scoring with her 3rd point but Boherbue reduced the gap by scoring the next three without reply. Ciara Newell calmed the Galway girls nerves by scoring their third goal and another Burke point and one from Louise Brennan ensured there was no way back for the Cork side.
Charlotte Cooney and Ciara Newell got their second goals to cap off a great day for the Claregalway Girls and they ran out easy winners in the end on a scoreline of 5–13 to 0–12.
