The Ladies Club hosted the U14 Division 3 Féile on Saturday May 2nd in Knockdoemore. On a wet and windy day there was some great football played by all the girls. Five clubs attended with Ballinasloe coming out as winners and will now represent Galway at the National Féile in July. Well done to Our U14 Gold team who put in great performances all day and finished the Group stages with a win. Special thanks to all the parents and Club Members who brought Food and Drinks or who helped out in any way on the day.

Our U14 Green Team competed in the Div 1 Féile in Clonberne on the same day. They had good wins over Tuam/Cortoon, Annaghdown and Dunmore in the Group stages before going on to beat our neighbours Corofin in the Semi-Final. In the Final we came up against the host Club and they proved to be too strong for the Girls on the day in wet and windy conditions. We wish Kilkerrin/Clonberne all the best in the Division 1 regional later this Year. Our U14 Girls have now Qualified for the Féile Regionals which will be Held on June 27th.

We as a club are very proud of all who participated and look forward to seeing you move up in age group over the coming years and wear the green and yellow of our Club in many matches to come.

Congratulations to the Galway Minor ladies on their Connaught Final win over a very good Mayo Team on Bank Holiday Monday in Ballyhaunis. Claregalway were well represented on the panel with the halfback line being all Claregalway (Orla Murphy, Karen Dowd and Elle Glynn) while Megan Glynn starred at midfield. Grace Cahill also saw action as a midfield substitute in the second half.

Galway will play the Ulster Champions in the All-Ireland Semi-Final in August. Best wishes to Fabienne Cooney, Deirdre Brennan and the Galway Senior Ladies who play Cork in the Division 1 League Final on Saturday in Parnell Park at 3pm. Well done to the Claregalway Junior Ladies who defeated St Michaels in the League on Sunday morning on a score of 2–10 to 2–2.

Next Adult game is the Senior league v Annaghdown on Monday next May 11th.

Recently Claregalway GAA Handball Club had a number of juvenile players competing for prestigious titles in the Junior Nationals held in Kingscourt, Co Cavan.

A huge congratulations to our own Niamh Heffernan who captured her first Nationals title by winning the 13&U in style overcoming the number one seed Mollie Dagg (Kild) in the final 15–4, 15–3. This is also the first major title for the club and comes as some consolation after the same player’s narrow All-Ireland U14 singles final a few three weeks ago. Niamh looked a class apart in the final, and her superb inch perfect lob serves combined with some accurate corner kills had Mollie on the back foot from the start.

This win will boost the Handball Club who are going from strength to strength. Niamh will be representing the club in August at the World Championships in Canada. Keep an eye out for various fundraising events over the next few weeks. Also at the nationals, in the plate competition, Darragh Jordan won the 13&U plate final overcoming fellow Galway player Eimhin O’Diolluin 25–16. Well done Darragh.

Also recently, Shane Lawless competed in the Juvenile B Connacht Final. Our normal 40×20 training has ended and we now switch to the One Wall code of handball. Our weekly training takes place in Claregalway Community Centre.
