Galway Bay FM’s Alan Murphy is about to embark on an exciting new chapter in his career after signing a book deal with Book Hub Publishing.
The popular radio presenter fulfilled a lifelong dream by signing on the dotted line with the Internationally recognised Athenry-based publishers and will have his first book in shops in time for Christmas next year.
As well as his work with Galway Bay FM, Alan is a successful showbiz writer and has written for numerous publications, both nationally and internationally, and was a weekly columnist with TV Now Magazine for several years.
He’s interviewed and met everyone from Eddie Murphy to Louis Walsh and Lindsay Lohan. He’s covered the Eurovision Song Contest when Jedward flew the Irish flag, interviewed stars on the red carpet of a Disney movie premiere in Hollywood and even had lunch with Paris and the Hiltons.
Alan considers Los Angeles his second home after spending many months there in 2008 and he returns for visits at least a couple of times each year. The 33-year old will share all his showbiz stories and interviews and experiences in the book.
I’ve wanted to write a book ever since I was a kid so I’m completely over the moon to have signed this deal. I’m so looking forward to getting to work with my amazing new team at Book Hub and I’m very thankful to them for believing in my book,” Alan told The Tuam Herald.
“I’ve had some very fun times and some truly bonkers experiences in my life and I’ve been lucky enough to meet and interview some of the world’s most famous celebrities. I always thought these stories would make for a great book one day and it’s such a brilliant feeling now that the day has finally come.”
Alan, who hails from Ballinrobe in Co Mayo, will also explore the world of fame in the book and give readers a unique insight into how the rich and famous live and what they’re really like.
“Many young people are obsessed with being famous nowadays”, said Alan, “and the book will show the high points and pitfalls of the celebrity world. But mostly, it’ll be a really fun read”.
