Galway Rural Development Co Ltd is organising four courses in Occupational First Aid for those working or volunteering with young people.

The courses will be delivered in four different venues around the county over one weekend per course commencing on Friday evening.

Provisional Dates
26–28th September
3rd–5th October
10–12th October
17–19th October

The course carries FETAC Level 5 certification.

Participants learn a high level of practical skill and the theoretical knowledge required to comply with the requirements of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 and their associated guide.


The eight modules include:

  • First aid in the workplace
  • Patient assessment
  • Respiratory emergencies
  • Cardiac first response
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Altered levels of Consciousness
  • Musculoskeletal Injuries
  • Burns and Scalds, Chemicals, Poison & Electric Shocks.

Duration: Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday.
Venues: TBC (four venues will be selected based on the level of interest in the area, one course will be delivered in the Gaeltacht area of East County Galway)

Participants must be working or volunteering with young people to be eligible and they are required to commit to attending the full weekend course. Ten places are reserved for those living in the Gaeltacht area of East County Galway.
