The Claregalway & District Day Care Centre (CDDCC) is located in the middle of Claregalway village and welcomes up to 15 older people into the centre each day to avail of socialisation by way of meeting people in similar situations to their own to chat, play cards, do arts and crafts, physical and mental exercises, occasional trips out and plenty of music and singing.

Freshly-baked scones and tea greet them on arrival and a hot nutritious meal is provided at lunch time.  The day service is available Monday-Fricay from 10.00am until 3.00pm.

This service is primarily funded through the ‘Never Too Old Charity Shop’ in Cois Chlair, Claregalway (behind The Arches Hotel).  The Charity Shop is run by volunteers so all proceeds are donated to the Day Care Centre.  The shop welcomes donations of good quality, re-sellable clothes, bric a brac and furniture.

The CDDCC have recently been granted planning permission to build 14 two-bedroom residences for independent living for the older person along with a purpose built Day Care Centre on a new site in Claregalway.

The housing is being funded by The Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government but the Day Centre will need financing therefore a major fundraising drive will soon be initiated.

The CDDCC are pleased to be partnering with Western Alzheimers on this project to enable them also to provide a Day Care facility to their service users.
